Abstract: Incorporation of aluminum into MCM-41 framework was achieved in an alkali-free system, by using diethylamine as the base source. The properties of the product are compared with those of the samples obtained with NaOH. XRD and TEM results show that the resulted materiaLIs highly ordered. 27AlMAS NMR experiment indicates that aluminum atoms are present with a 4-coordinated form in the as-synthesized samples. Upon calcination, a small amount of Al was removed from the framework, as indicated by a small peak characteristic of 6-coordinated ALIN the NMR profile. The surface acidity of the calcined samples were studied with Py-IR technique.
