Abstract: 6-Selenium bridged cyclodextrin was synthesized by regioselective tosylation of β-cyclodextrin and NaHSe displacement on the basis of the active site structure of glutathione peroxidase(GPX). The compounds displayed a higher activity of GPXthan Ebselen(PZ51), its GPXactivity was 4.3 times more than that of PZ51. The structure of the mimic was characterized by elemental analysis, IRand 1HNMR. The Se content and its valence in the mimic was determined by X-ray photoelectron spectrum.

Key words: Selenium, β-Cyclodextrin, Imitating enzyme, Glutathione peroxidase
