Abstract: The UV-Vis spectra of the substituted cyclopentadienyl chromium, molybdenum and tungsten carbonyls have been measured in five solvents, The concentration effects of the CT(CO-M) bands, n-π*bands have been studied and the phenomena mentioned above were interpreted by the Franck-Condon principles. The CTbands undergo a gradual red shift as the concentration of the solution increases and the nonlinear relation between the λmax of the CT band and Cwas simulated by a computer.
