Phase Diagram of Ternary System LaCl₃-SrCl₂-MgCl₂

Abstract

Abstract: Three surfaces corresponding to the primary crystallization of LaCl₃ , SrCl₂ and MgCl₂, respectively, 3 univariant curves related to the secondary crystallization and a ternary eutectic (15.0wt% LaCl₃,49.5wt% SrCl₂, 35.5 wt% MgCl₂; 545℃) were found in LaCl₃-SrCl₂-MgCl₂ system by means of DTA and X-ray diffraction analysis, Areaction occurs in this system : L=LaCl₃+ SrCl₂+ MgCl₂.An unstable compound has been found in the solid which decomposed at about 500℃.
