Abstract: The vapor liquid equilibrium data for chloroform-ethanol and chloroform-benzene binary systems are determined at pressures from 101.3 to 303.0 kPa with the dual circulating vapor liquid equilibrium apparatus at superatmospheric pressures. The data at normal pressure are correlated by the Wilson, NRTL, UNIQUAC equations, and those at superatmospheric pressures are predicted from the correlated energy parameters and compared with those from the experimental results.Good results are obtained.Abinary azeotrope is formed at the studied pressures for the chloroform-ethanol mixtures. Some chloride ions are generated in this mixture when the temperature is over 400 K.
