Abstract: This paper reports the kinetics of ring-opening reaction of epichlorohydrin with propi-onic acid catalyzed by HZSM-5 exchanged with Fe(Ⅲ).The reaction of epichlorohydrin with propionic acid is the first-order.The rate equation is v=k[epichlorohydrin] when the amount of Fe-ZSM-5 is fixed. The influence of benzene, toluene ο-chlorotoluene, m-chlorotoluene, p-chlorotoluene or o-nitrotoluene as solvent on the rate of the reaction is also investigated.Through the mathematical treatment, the relationship between lnk and dielectric constant ε is found to be Ink=2.80[(ε - 1)/(2ε + 1)] - 9.63 (except o-nitrotoluene)
