Abstract: Low powered microwave plasma torch (MPT) was used as light source. When Ar was used as support gas, the sample solution was introduced with an electrothermal microsample introduction system. The experimental parameters affecting, the determination of copper, zinc and cadmium were examined, the detection limits for copper, zinc and cadmium were 3.3,1.4,1.7 ng/mL, respectively. The method has been employed to analyse the copper of practical samples and the result is satisfactory. The influence of alkaline elements on the copper, zinc and cadmium emission signal is also discussed.
