Abstract: The present paper describes an metastable energy transfer emission spectrometry(MTES) for the determination of zinc. When N2 was used as support gas, the active nitrogen afterglow was produced in a microwave discharge. The sample solution was introduced with an electrothermal microsam-pie introduction system, the experimental parameters affecting the determination of zinc were examined, zinc was determined at 472.2 nm and the detection limit was 2.3 ng.The method has been employed to analyse the practical samples and the result is satisfactory.
