Abstract: The ability of dimethylaniline(DMA)/CuSO4 initiator to induce grafting of methyl methacrylate(MMA) onto nylon 66 was investigated under different conditions. It was found that copolymerization reaction is greatly influenced by the temperature and time of the reaction, concentrations of MMA and DMA.The graft yield increases as the monomer concentration increases, there are optimal concentrations of DMA and Cu2+ ion, below or above these concentrations, lower grafting occurs.Raising the reaction temperature and increasing reaction time favorably influence grafting. The types of cupric salt also affect grafting to varying degrees.Addition of acetic acid enhances grafting, whereas formic acid decreases grafting.
