Synthesis and Characterization of 1-Octene/Penten-4-ol-1 Copolymer

Abstract

Abstract: A polar monomer,4-pentenoxyl trimethyl siiane,was synthesized,copolymerization of l-octene with it over solvay TiCl₃ /Al(i-Bu)₃ catalyst was studied and the title copolymers having various hydroxyl group contents were obtained by hydrolyzing the product and were characterized by elementary analyses and infrared spectrometry.Moreover,the reactivity ratios of two monomers were determined:r₁(octene)=2.28±0.15,r₂(PTMS)=0.47±0.05.
