Abstract: This paper reports that the host species hexamethylenamine forms channel-type inclusion compounds with phenol type compounds, such as p-nitrophenol,catechol,resorcinol,hydroquinone,and p-hydroxybenzaldehyde.Their molar ratios(host/guest)are1:l,1:2,1:1,1:1 and 1:2 respectively, and melting points are 144~145℃,164℃(sub.),203℃(sub.),198℃(sub.)and 116~118℃ in the same sequence. The result of X-ray diffraction shows that the crystal of inclusion compound formed by the title host and p-nitrophenol belongs to triclinic system space group P1.The parameters are a=0.5899(1)nm,b=0.7056(1)nm,c=2.5186(11)nm,α=87.53(3)°,β=96.71(3)°,γ=90.0(2)°,Z=2.Because of the presence of random water molecules in the inclusion compound crystalline,R=0.138.The results of X-ray diffraction and IRof other inclusion compounds are also given.
