Abstract: In this paper a series of alkylcobalt complexes RCo(SB)Lin which R=CH3, C2H5, C3H7, n and i-C4H9); L=H2O; SB=bissalicylaldehyde 2,3-dimethyl-2,3-butadiamine, a kind of new coen-zyme B12model compounds, were synthesized and characterized. The complexes are unstable in methanol. Their Co-C bond breaked in the process of thermolysis or photolysis, the products of which were established by using UV-Vis spectrophotometry and spin trapping ESRtechnology. Also the splitting constants were quantitatively determined. It was concluded that both axial alkyl and equatorial ligand influence the stabilities of Co-Cbond.
