Abstract: Astable poly (methylene violet) chemically modified electrode was prepared on the spectrum-pure graphite electrode by using cyclic voltammetry. The monomer of methy-lene violet could be polymerized on the electrode surface. The effects of various experimental conditions were discussed as for the polymerization process and the electrochemical behaviour of film was investigated in detail. The results exhibited that this film could be used for the electrocatalytic reduction of nitrite. Meanwhile, this electrode also showed a good linear cur-rent response for the NO2- in the range from 1.0×10-5 to 3.0×10-3 mol/L.
