Abstract: Two oxidation products of the reaction of C60 with O3 in toluene or dichlorobenzene were obtained in dependence on the amount of ozone absorbed by the solution and the reaction time. The short time oxidized product is insoluble in common organic solvents and water, but the water soluble derivatives were obtained after hydrolysis under a basic condition. It's IRspectrum is similar with that of C60 polyhydric derivatives. The extensive oxidation product of C60 is water soluble without any further dispose. The structures of the two oxidized products were characterized by variable temperature FTIR, XPS, elementary analysis, TGAand TOF MS, ESI MS, FAB MStechnique. Both products are thermally unstable, H2O, CO and CO2 are eliminated during the increase of temperature.
