Abstract: Anions recognition is of interest because anions play many important roles in living organisms. Most currently, it is very desirable to have access to anions recognition in high polar solvents such as DMSO or water. We have designed and synthesized a new dipyrrolylamide compound, o-di-(pyrroly-2-formamido)phenylene(1), which can bind DMSO via hydrogen bonds in solid state. The anions recognition of the compound were studied by the 1H NMR method in a high polar solvent of DMSO. It was evident that compound 1 binds anions via hydrogen bonds of pyrrole NH and amide NH with anions. Compound 1 binds F - more preferably than other anions duo to the well-preorganized structure.
