Abstract: An ethylene glycol dimethylacrylate-styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer, used as packing for high performance liquid chromatography was prepared by a novel suspension polymerization process. The spherical particle sizes of the polymer are 5±2 urn. Some column parameters such as the permeability, theoretical plate height and selectivity were determined and compared with the data of similar packings in the literature. It has been found that the ester-containing polymer has not only the higher efficiency but also very good physical properties such as high rigidity and permeability, and that it is suitable for the separation of medium polarity mixtures of aromatic amines, phenols and cyclohex-anone peroxides.
