Abstract: Eight compounds were isolated from the aerial parts of Chuanminshen violaceum Sheh et Shan. Seven of them were elucidated as 4 hydroxymethyl 5 methoxycarbonylethyl 6 methoxy benzofuran-7-O-β-Dglucoside(1), 6 methoxymellein(2), isopimpinellin(3), byakangelicin(4), oxypeucedanin hydrate(5), rutaretin(6) and rutin(7) by spectral evidence. Compound 1 is a novel 4, 5, 6, 7 tetrasubstituted benzofuran compound isolated from natural origins and named chuanminshenoside.

Key words: Umbelliferae, Chuanminshen violaceum sleh et shan, Chemical constituent, Chuanminshenoside
