Application of C18-Modified Mseoporous SBA-15 as the Substrate for High Performance Liquid Chromatography

Abstract

Abstract: C₁₈ functionalized mesoporous silica SBA-15 with a high surface area was applied in high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) to separate small biomolecules: cysteine, glutathione, dopamine and 6 thiopurine. Compared to commercial available C₁₈ column, C₁₈-SBA-15 has a much higher surface area, which enhances the capillary HPLCresolution by increasing molecular capacity factors. The uniform distributed mesopores in SBA-15 result in HPLCpeaks narrower than that of commercial column. Mesoporous SBA-15 can be used as an excellent HPLCstationary phase for special applications for its low cost, easy synthesis and various group modifications.
