Studies on the Synthesis of β-Carypophyllene Alcohol

Abstract

Abstract: The hydration of β-carypophyllene in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid, con-centrated sulfuric acid, optically active camphor-10-sulfuric acid was studied. Better condition was obtained by the method of orthonal designing. The result indicates that the stereoselectivity of hydration of β-carypophyllene is almost unaffected by optically active camphor-10-sulfuric acid.
