Abstract: In this paper, p-type Fe1-xMnxSi2(x=0-0.12) and n type Fe1-yCoySi2(y=0-0.12) were synthesized by means of ceramic technology. The influence of additive amounts of Mn and Co, and heat treatment on the amounts of β-phase formed were studied. Experimental results indicate that addition of Mn and Co could inhibit the amounts and velocity of phase formation. High relative density(Dr) of p-type Fe1-xMnxSi2and n-type Fe1-yCoySi2causes excellent corrosion resistance and heat resistance which are beneficial for manufacture of thermoelectric components.

Key words: β-Phase, Mn, Co, FeSi2
