Abstract: The kinetics of reaction between Tb 3+ and human oxyhemoglobin was investigated by means of stopped flow fluorometry. The Tb 3+ ions quenched the intrinsic fluorescence of oxyhemoglobin within the first 100 ms. The rate constant of the reaction at various temperature and activation parameters were obtained. The results indicate that Tb 3+ binding to oxyhemoglobin is attributed to the second order reaction. The mechanism of the reaction was explored.
