Abstract: Astudy of polyphenylene (PP) is always a focus in all kinds of the conjugated polymers.Based on synthesis of poly (N, N-dimethylaniline) (PDMA), polynitrobenzene (PNB) is obtained by modifying PDMAwith concentrated nitric acid in acetic anhydride. This new nitro-substituted PPis soluble in common organic solvents such as acetone, DMFand THFat room temperature.Thls paper describes the synthetic process and confirms the characteristic of PNBby elementary analysis, NMR, FTIRand UV-Vis spectra, then discusses a possible reaction mechanism.
