Abstract: In this paper,we report the results of studies on the activity of lattice oxygen, the effects of Li on lattice oxygen, and the process through which the gas phase oxygen takes part in the reaction. Apulse method was used in this study. It is proposed that the gas phase oxygen first changes into lattice oxygen and then reacts with methane. Li2O/MgO catalysts provide the active oxygen which reacts with methane to form C2hydrocarbons. Li2O doped on MgO catalysts restrain the deep oxidation of reactant or product, thus increasing selectivity.
