Abstract: Nanosize Ni-Bamorphous alloy was prepared by chemical reduction. The diameters of the particles are in the range of 10~20 nm. The surface composition was determined by XPS. Its catalytic hydrogenation activity is higher than that of Raney Ni, because it has more active sites. The nature of the active site is the same for the two samples. The Ni atoms on the surface are the active sites of the hydrogenation, and boron will promote the catalytic activity by forming amorphous structure with nickel to provide more active sites.

Key words: Nanosize material, Amorphous alloy, Catalytic property
