Abstract

Abstract: Using a new and simple method, under ordinary temperature and pressure (Ph₂PPy)₂NiCl₂ was reduced by zinc powder in the presence of carbon monoxide to give (Ph₂PPy)₂Ni(CO)₂, the structure of which was determined by X-ray diffraction.The complex crystallizes in the orthogonal space group Pcabwith a=12.044(3)Å, b=21.322(5) Å, c=24.925(5)Åand Z=8.The deviation factors R=0.051 and R_w = 0.055 were obtained for 2166 independent reflections.The nickel atom is of tetrahedral configuration.
