The Complementary Relation and the Particle-Hole Symmetry in the Spectrum of Rare Earth Ions

Abstract: The particle-hole transformation is expressed explicitly in a unitary operator and used to analyze the complementary relation appropriate for any representation of a finit-basis model system. The results are checked by the particle-hole symmetry emerging from the spectrum of the trivalent lanthanides.
