Spectrophotometric Study on the Colour Reaction of the Complex of Titanium(Ⅳ) with Bromopyrogallol Red (BPR)-1,10-Phenanthroline Cetyltrimethylammonium Bromide

Abstract: Acolour reaction of a quaternary complex formed titanium with bromopyrogallol red (BPR),1,10-phenanthroline,cetyltrimethylarnmonium bromide (CTMAB) has been studied spectrophotometrically.Asimple and rapid method for determination of titanium(Ⅳ) is proposed.The results show that in the buffer soultion of hydrochloric acid and potassuim biphthalate at pH2.5 titanium (Ⅳ) with BPR-Phen-CTMABcan form a violet quaternary complex,λmax 625,ε 6.58×104.The composition ratio of Ti(Ⅳ): BPR: Phen: CTMABis 1:2:1:4 by metheds of molaratio and con-tiueous variation and slope ratio
