Abstract: The clement mercury is of high vaporabilily at room temperature and ofstrong affinity for gold.Based on these characteristics of mercury,a new method—gaseous enrichment-stripping voltammctry for the determination of mercury was developed. The method is specific and quite sensitive. It was shown that the concentration range of mercury that could be quantitatively determined with a model 883 polarogragh was 0.2-8.0 ppb.The detection limit was 0.05 ppb.The method has been satisfactorily employed to analyse practical samples.
