Abstract: Polyurethane, terbium acetylacetonate and their composite were synthesized and subsequently characterized by rheology and FTIR spectroscopy. FTIR results indicate that terbium ions coordinated with the carbonyl groups in polyurethane molecular chains. Rheological property measurement shows an increase in the polyurethane solution viscosity, indicating that there exist obvious interactions between lanthanide ions and polyurethane in solution. The mechanical property test indicates that the addition of lanthanide complex enhanced the mechanical performances of polyurethane, such as tensile strength and elongation at break.
