Abstract: The dihydroxy crown ehters (Ⅰ,Ⅱ) were treated with 3-bromo-acetic acid, 3-bro-mo-propionic acid and chloroacetyl chloride respectively to give the corresponding dicarboxylic acids(3,4,5,6) and chloroacetate (1,2)In addition, two new dihydroxy crown ethers (Ⅲ ,Ⅳ) were prepared by the reaction of 1, 1'-(o-phenyl)-bis-(2,3-epoxypropyl)ether with 2,2'-diphe-nolBy treating Ⅲ and Ⅳ with bromo-acetic acid the corresponding dicarboxylic acids(7, 8) were obtainedThe structures of the ten new compounds were determined by elemental analysis, IR,1H NMR, and MS.

Key words: Dihydroxy crown ether, Dicarboxylic acid crown ether, 2,2'-diphenol
