Abstract: The highly ordered composite porous bio-glass was successfully prepared using the pith of cirsium and P123 as co-templates. It exhibits a hierarchical structure with macropores of 60—100 μm and mesoporous phase in the inner walls of macropores. The sample was characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), powder X-ray diffraction(XRD), transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and N2 adsorption/desorption and so on. The results indicate that the sample replicated the morphologies of plant templates precisely, meanwhile, the material possessed larger specific BET surface area and porous volume. In vitro simulate body fluid(SBF) test shows that the bioactive glass can induce the formation of hydroxyapatite(HAP) on their surface, which has good bioactivity of osteogenesis. Therefore, the material may have potential application in tissue regeneration engineering.
