Abstract: The La1-xMgx(NiCoAl)3.5system compounds, La0.9Mg0.1Ni3.1Co0.3Al0.2, La0.7Mg0.3Ni3.1· Co0.3Al0.2, La0.8Mg0.2Ni3.0Co0.4Al0.2and La0.9Mg0.1Ni3.1Co0.2Al0.3have been prepared by arc melting of constituent elements in Ar atmosphere. The electrochemical properties of these alloys have been studied through the charge-discharge recycle testing. The X-ray diffraction(XRD) analysis reveals that the as-prepared alloys have quite different crystal structures from that of AB5-type alloy. It can be found that La1-xMgx(NiCoAl)3.6system alloys are capable of performing a high rate discharge. The as-prepared alloys have much higher middle voltage than those of AB5-type alloy during the discharge period.
