Abstract: Phosphorylation of cellulose and wood(also named as lignocellulosic material) is one of the potential methods for chemical modification of these natural polymers. In this research, α-cellulose and wood meals (extracts free) were mixed with certain organophosphoryl chloride compounds, producing the corresponding phosphorylated derivatives. A series of model chemicals (e.g. ethylene glycol, glucose, cellobiose, phenols, guaiacol, etc.) were converted to the same derivatives as references. The phosphorylated products were examined by using P-31 NMR spectroscopy to analyze their structural characteristics.
