Abstract: Derivatives of carbonyl compounds such as oximes and p-nitrophenylhydrazones have played an important role in the protection of carbonyl compounds,as they are highly crystalline and stable compounds. They are also very extensively used for the characterization and purification of carbonyl compounds. Regeneration of carbonyl compounds from their derivatives under mild condition is an important process in synthetic organic chemistry.
