A New Synthetic Method of Liquid Crystalline Polyesters with Flexible Polymethylene Spacer

Abstract: Polymethylene his(p-hydroxybenzoates) (Ⅰ) were prepared from solbrol anddifferent dids by melted stated transesterification reaction with Ti (OC4H9-n)/N (n-C4H9)3 asthe catalyst and (C6H5O)3Pas the heat-stable inhibitor.Six liquid crystalline polyesters weresynthesized from terephthalyl dichloride and (Ⅰ).Thermotropic liquid crystallineproperties of these polyesters were identified by DSCand polarizing microscope with a hot stage.
