The Cleavage of Trimethylsilyl Ether

Abstract: Trimethylsilyl ether of tertiary alcohol can be cleaved by using tetra-n-butylan-monium fluoride (TBAF), acidic hydrolysis, basic alcoholysis and and BF3-Et2O. The resultsshow that BF3-Et2O is a highly selective method, which has not been reported so far.
