Abstract: Eight pairs of diastereomeric amides have been prepared, and their 13C NMR chemical shift data and the corresponding shift differences between each pair of diastereomers were reported.Acorrelation model was proposed on the basis of the preferred conformation with the observed 13C NMR chemical shift nonequivalences of these amides.

Key words: Amides, Diastereomer, 13CNMR chemical shift differences, Preferred conformation model
