Abstract: Amphiphilic azobenzene derivative mono-molecular layer and multilayer were deposited on the glass substrate electroplated with metal film and the nonmetal CaF2 monocrystailine substrate by using Langmuir-Blodgett method. The orientations of transition moment and long axes of the molecule were studied by using infrared linear dichroic spectra.Orderly period structure of the films was researched by using X-ray diffraction method. The results obtained show that the high pyroelectric activity was related to the bi-period structure of the LBfilms was discussed.

Key words: Langmuir-Biodgett film, Pyroelectric behavior, Azobenzene derivative
