Studies on Boron Compounds (ⅩⅩⅢ)—Reaction of Potassium Tetrahydroborate with Ferrocenylmethyl Trihydrocarbyl Ammonium Chlorides

Abstract: In this work , the reactioin of KBH4 with C5H5FeC5H4CH2NMe2(R)Xin aqueous solution is investigated. It is found that when Ris an electron-drawing group, the product is a quaternary ammonium salt of BH4- when Ris an electron-donating group or H , the product is a complex of BH3. The compositions of the products were identified by elemental analyses and IRspectrometry. The reaction provides a simple , high-yield synthetic procedure for quaternary ammonium salts of BH4- and complexes of borane.
