Abstract: Primary kinetic dculerium isotope effect of the reaction of enamine formation is measured using natural abundance deuterium NMR. The mechanism of this reaction is discussed based on the above measurement. The conclusion is that the step which involved C-Hbond breaking is not the rate-determining
