Abstract: Eight new 2-[α(or γ)-pyridylalkoxy] tetrahydrofurans (where n = 4, 5, 6, 10), have been prepared by the reaction of 2-(ω-chloroalkoxy)tetrahydrqfurans with picolylsodium.They were hydrolyzed, to form the corresponding pyridylalkanols, four of which have not been reported before. These compounds inhibited the growth of wheat coleoptile.
