Abstract: The Chinese medicinal herb, Anemone raddeana Regel, has been used for treatment of rheinnatism and phlebits etc. in folk medicine. Anew saponin R₁, which was named raddeanin B, and glucose as well as cane sugar have been isolated from this plant.By spectroscopic and chemical methods, it has been identified as 3-O-[α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→4)-α-L-arabinosyl]-oleanolic acid. It has not been isolated previously from any plant source.
