Abstract: 2, 6-Distyryl benzo-[l, 2d; 4, 5d']-bisoxazole and 2, 6-distyryl benzo-[l,2d;5, 4d']-bisoxazole as well as six derivatives of each of them were synthesized by condensation of the corresponding 2,6-dimethyl benzo-[l,2d; 4,5d']-bisoxazole or 2, 6-dimethyl benzo-[l,2d; 5, 4d']-bisoxazole respectively with benzaldehyde or substituted benzaldehydes in the presence of alkali. The m.p., λ_max of UV spectra and fluorescence emission spectra, as well as laser properties of the products are listed in tables.
