Abstract: This paper studied the modification of macroporous adsorbents by adding some polar monomer, such as methyl methacrylate, methyacrylate, methyacrylaic acid, acrylonitrile or allyl acetate, in the copolymerization of styrene and divinylbenzene. The structure of adsorbents modified was characterized by means of physical technology and chemical methods, and the adsorption properties for stevioside were determined. The results of experiments show that the polarities of these resins have an important influence on their physical structure and adsorptive capacity.

Key words: Adsorbent, Polystyrene resin, Stevioside
