Abstract: This paper covered the phase of molybdenum catalyst system with hydrogenated gasoline as solvent,MoCl3(OC8H17)2 (i-Bu)2AlO-PhCH3 (m) as the catalyst.By means of Tyndall effect and electromicroscope observation, we found molybdenum was a colloid catalyst. The colloid particles were mainly congregated by MoCl3(OC8H17)2,which reacted with (i-Bu)2 AlOPhCH3(m) at the same time.In order to examine where the active centers of catalytic polyrnerization were, an ultrafiltration experiment was done by a pored filter. The result shows that the active centers existed on the surface of the colloid particles. So the whole catalytic polymerization was a heterogeneous catalytic reaction. The state of colloid particles was hardly influenced by ageing. This kind of catalyst system was a comparatively stable colloid system.
