Abstract: Aseries of α-Fe2O3catalysts inlaid in small pore resin was synthesized and used in the reaction of phenol hydroxylation with H2O2The amount of Fe inlaid was measured by atomic absorption. The results of Mssbauer spectra indicated that α-Fe2O3was the main state, and the average diameter was smaller than5nm. The conversion of phenol was about 24%, the selectivity of diphenol was higher than 90%, and the conversion of H2O2almost reached 100% at the 3:1 molar ratio of phenol to H2O2These results reached the values of Enichem's technology in Italy.

Key words: Small pore resin, α-Fe2O3, Nanometer particle, Hydroxylation of phenol with hydrogen peroxide, Dihydric phenols
