Stereoselective Synthesis of Glycosyl Acrylate Derivatives by Microwave Assisted Wittig Reaction

Abstract: In order to develop an efficient, practical and stereoselective method for synthesizing glycosyl acrylate derivatives, the microwave assisted Wittig reaction of sugar ketone(1) and lactones(4) with ylide 2(Ph3PCHCOOEt) was investigated in a sealed microwave reactor in various temperatures and solvents. The reaction was carried out effectively and stereoselectively in xylene at 180 ℃ with a yield up to 80% within 10 min.
