Abstract: In the present work, the reaction of tellurium(Ⅳ)with malachite green has been investigated. In phosphoric acid solution, Te (Ⅳ) forms ionic associates with KIand malachite green. This complex can be extracted into benzene. The maximum absorbance of the complex is at 635nm. Its molar absorption coefficient is 2.37×105. The mole ratio of tellurium, iodide and malachite green is 1:6:2. The amounts of tellurium in the range 0-6μg per 10ml.of benzene follow Beer's Law. The procedure is simple, rapid and sensitive. The results are satisfactory for the microdetermination of tellurium in alloys.
