Abstract: 1-beazoxepino[3,4-b] quinolin-13(6H)-one(14)and its halogen and alkly-derivatives(15-18)were synthesized through cyclization of 2-[(un)substituted phenoxy]-3-quinilinccarboxylic acids(9-13)in the presence of P₂O₅-H₃PO₄ or PPA.The acids(9-13)were obtained from the corresponding ethyl esters(4-8)which were prepared through refluxing ethyl 2-bromomethyl-3-quinolinecarboxylate(2)with phenol or substituted phenol in sodium ethoxide ethanolic solution.Compound(18)reacted with CuCNto give compound(19)which was hydrolyzed to give carboxylic derivative(20).The structure of 19 new compounds have been confirmed by element analysis,IRand NMR.
