Abstract: Six Eu²⁺-doped alkaline earth fluoride halides MFX (M = Ca, Sr or Ba; X = Cl, Br or I ) were synthesized by solid slate reactions. The composition and structure-dependence of the radiative transitions of Eu²⁺ in those hosts have been discussed according to their fluorescence emission and excitation spectra. The splitting energy levels of 4?⁶5d excited state of Eu²⁺ in the crystal field of MFXmatrices (M = Ca, Sr or Ba) have been calculated.
